National Archives Go Digital

Here’s some great/interesting news for people generally interested in digital archiving. Footnote Inc is in the process of digitizing the US National Archives. The archives will then be available through subscription on Footnote’s website. But the best part, in my opinion, is this:

After five years, all images digitized through the agreement will be available for free on the National Archives Web site.

You can’t beat ‘free’.

To read more about the project, here’s an MSNBC article about it, as well as the official press release.
